We asked ourselves – what would the most exclusive saw be and look like and how is it that for knives there is this full community and sense of pride while saws are seen as utilitarian tools only?
To us, a saw isn’t just a rusty thing you grab from a shelf at the hardware store. It should be something you treasure, like a well-made knife. We wanted to completely reshape the story of what a saw can be – both in perception and material. That vision became the blueprint for a tool that doesn’t just perform. it stirs pride. A saw that belongs on your gear wall and your Instagram feed.

It’s part performance, part poetry. Damasteel’s beautiful and functional steels offered a kind of depth and integrity that matched our ambition. It’s incredibly strong and corrosion resistant, but also visually stunning. And let’s be honest – no one expects a saw to look like this.
Learning to work with stainless steel was a big leap for us, its not very common in saw manufacturuing to use stainless steels so that’s where we had to start. Unfortunatly for us there was very little knowledge that we could use from others and we had to pave our own way and build the internal know how.
A saw blade can be produced in different ways, we start with cutting out the shape and thereafter grind the teeth, the third step is the biggest technical hurdle for us – grinding the concavity of the blade. That geometry is critical to how a saw cuts cleanly and makes it very different from knife production. The heat generated in the grinding process would burn and deform the entire blade. It took months of iteration and tooling adjustments before we found a way to do it without compromising the material. Given the cost of a damasucs blade – we perfected the method on a normal knifesteel stainless material before daring to start with the Damasteel material. The sadness of burning through some of the Damasteel blades was real!

We expected the blade and saw to look spectacular. However, it wasn’t until we held the first in our hands that we also noticed the unique angle in which the damascus steel is seen when made into a saw. Every saw teeth is different and you get to see the intricate pattern not only from the flat part, but from the inside. It’s the first saw of its kind – not just in materials, but in spirit. The fact that it’s made with Damasteel is the ultimate expression of what we believe: that utility doesn’t have to mean ugly. You can make something that works in the forest and also makes you feel something.
Our brand is just a couple of months old and we are trying our best to get our story and products known to a wider audience. We are so happy that the initial reactions to the saw has been great!
The Damascus saw is our current focus, we will be launching it on Kickstarter on May 8th and if the campaign is successful, it will also be a product that we sell through our retail partners by Fall 2025!
